Buddy Check Week: Mobilizing Veterans to Reach Out and Connect
From October 20-24, 2025, Buddy Check Week encouraged veterans to check in with one another and helped spark thousands of meaningful moments of connection.
Buddy Check Week highlighted a simple but powerful message: connection saves lives. Held from October 20-24, the campaign encouraged veterans to reach out to fellow veterans through small but meaningful acts of connection, whether by text, phone call, or meeting up for coffee.
The effort centered on making support feel accessible and actionable. Participants were invited to take the pledge to check in with 10 veterans, while also exploring trainings and tools designed to help start conversations and strengthen support.
The campaign also gained added visibility through a Fox 5 DC appearance featuring Face the Fight Executive Director Babs Chase and 19th Chief Master Sergeant of the Air Force JoAnne Bass, who spoke about Buddy Check Week and the life-saving power of connection.
This year’s campaign also included a continued partnership with Starbucks, which helped power conversations through a generous donation of 15,000 $10 gift cards.
By making it easier for veterans to connect and by equipping supporters with practical tools, Buddy Check Week reinforced the importance of reaching out, starting conversations, and ensuring no one feels alone.
